It was great to see the dream that started with ROCKY DAWUNI and his partners JEREMY SOLE and CARY SULLIVAN blossom for 6 wonderful years. To have that many beautiful heads and hearts PACKED inside (and outside) Zanzibar last week for our AFRO FUNKE' 6 YEAR was epic!
Host ROCKY DAWUNI and DJs GLENN RED & JEREMY SOLE welcomed everyone in early,
then DJ DAY jumped on and truly sparked the flame! J.SOLE took the baton and rocked before passing it over to BALANDUGU KAN, who brought the heavy African drums and dancers. 11pm and the spot was packed and hyped! Next up, JEREMY ELLIS puts on a 20-minute freak show on dual MPC samplers, absolutely killing it. Literally, he destroyed one of the MPCs in the first song! GLENN RED started mixing outside on the sidewalk next to the Kogi BBQ truck and Puzzle Piece’s outrageous visual display for the 100+ folks getting air (and food) outside. Inside, the legendary KON & AMIR took to the tables and absolutely shut it down with deep, bumping rarities 'til the lights came on.
