FUNDS GO TOWARD:

----Kawangware Street Children and Youth Project----
Former street kids started Kawangware Street Children and Youth Project (KSCYP) to provide positive opportunities for the children of Kawangware, a slum bordering Kenya’s capital Nairobi. Locally managed, KSCYP strives to get youth off the streets and offers economic and performance activities. The profits generated help support the youth workers’ basic needs such as food, shelter, medical care and education, while also taking care of the community’s orphaned and vulnerable children.

NextAid has joined forces with KSCYP by committing to seek funds for the construction of an eco-friendly, multipurpose facility for the project’s micro-business. Make a donation @ http://www.nextaid.org/donation.htm .

--- “Send a Child To School” with goGogetters
NextAid is working with the well-respected South African organization, loveLife, to be the beneficiary of our “Send a Child to School” campaign. goGogetters is a loveLife program to support the many grandmothers (gogos) who have been dedicating their old-age years to the wellbeing of orphans and vulnerable children. NextAid is raising funds for the schooling needs of some of the most vulnerable children who participate in the goGogetters program. All it takes is $75 to fund one child’s education for an entire year. This donation will ensure that a child is equipped with a school uniform, shoes and school supplies.
To participate, please note “goGogetters" when making a donation @ http://www.nextaid.org/donation.htm.

WORLD AIDS DAY EVENTS - FROM COAST TO COAST
Other events are happening in San Francisco, Boston, Charlotte, Los Angeles, Omaha, NYC, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Syracuse totaling over a dozen events confirmed so far throughout the months of November and December. Participants include Giant Step, TOTH, DEEP, Insomniac, Playloop Records, OM Records, ONE, Club Technique, Uniting Souls, Free Thinking, supperclub SF, Charlotte House Society, DT Productions, loom, Uhuru Afrika, and ReEvolution Marketing. More promoters, artists and DJs from cities around the country are coming on board almost daily. For information on all these events, go to http://www.nextaid.org/wad2009

Nov 25, 2009

I'm very Thankful!!! - 11/25-11/29

So it's that time of year, to take a moment to remember what you are thankful for....

For me, a moment is an understatement.....

This whole year I have been very aware of what I've been thankful for all along the way.

And there is A LOT that I should be thankful for!

1) I am in love with an amazing girl! I am so grateful for all the memories we've created this summer, and I'm so honored to have her love and affection!

2) I have the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing people who have turned into great friends. In fact it's been exactly a year now that I've officially worked with The Do LaB!

3) My friends and creative community... wow! I know some extremely talented and kind people, that I am very proud to call my friends!

4) Having the gift to be able to make music and be creative! It's up to me.... I was born with the passion for it.... now I just have to make it a bigger part of my life!

5) And yes I am thankful for the fact that Los Angeles has one of the best art/music scenes on earth! Including this weekend:

Wow...we thought we were a bit off our rockers, but you guys just tipped it over. Thank you and come back for seconds please! This Wednesday and every Wednesday til' December 23rd (our Orphan's Christmas Ball), we will be conducting this realm of madness, so don't get left out! Come on down and see what the buzz is about. Nov 20, 2009

It's Friday and I'm in love - 11/20

Yes its true. It's been months now and this feeling isn't going away anytime soon.

And for all of you out there still searching.... never give up. Do what you love, and love will find you!

That is how it happened for me ♥

Some music that capture's the moment for me and that could inspire it for you:

So.....

Tonight catch El Papa Chango at 16bit+Beyond:

16itBit&Beyond returns on Friday November 20th at the Air Conditioned Supperclub in Venice. This month we have two incredible acts joining us and a long list of birthday celebrations to share.

EL PAPA CHANGO (El Circo) is coming all the way from San Francisco to join us behind the decks. We can't tell you how excited we are to have him with us in our humble little house. His unique style of Latin-inspired beats has been moving dance floors for years.

Opening up for him we have LUCKY 7 MAMBO (Dimelo! Records) "LIVE". Inspired by the multi-ethnic music-fusion of 1950s and 60s’ Spanish Harlem, Lucky 7 Mambo" features the haunting harmonies of the vibraphone, an unlikely instrument now, as much as it was in the 50s and 60s. This uniquely American-made style draws the best of the Cuban son, African-American jazz and Puerto Rican soul. "Lucky 7 Mambo" is inspired by old-school greats like Jimmy Sabater, Cheo Feliciano, and Joe Cuba.

And if that wasn't enough we will be celebrating the birthday's for Debi Mae West, Autumn Moss, Mr.Caparro and El Papa Chango.
