LA WEEKLY- write up---> "Last Night..."
LA Weekly attented last night's premeiring -now-weekly Wednesday night gig at the Edison in downtown Los Angeles.... Here's what they had to see and say....
Last Night: Lucent Dossier Seduces the Absinthe Fairy, Turns Acrobatics into Erotics
by LA Weekly
September 18, 2008 8:54 AM
Last night, September 17, marked the decadent premiere of Lucent Dossier's Wednesday night residency at the Edison Bar. Deep in the dungeonesque belly of the first private power plant in downtown Los Angeles, the Vaudeville circus pranced around with feather headdresses and lace lingerie, dangling from sashes strung from the high, industrial ceilings of the spacious bar. Silent films flashed in sepia tones on cement walls while the troupe's resident DJ –- DJ Imagika -- spun a surreal soundtrack and gorgeous dancers turned acrobatics into erotics. Lucent Dossier at the Edison is a night for voyeurs.
The gritty setting summoned a sexy tension in the post-apocalyptic cabaret. Troupe members inhabited every hidden pocket of the bar, spinning their bodies into silky hammocks suspended from high beams, dancing seductively through the crowd, inviting couples sipping on pomegranate cocktails to put down their glasses and get their faces painted, or have their hands washed in a fancy, old-fashioned basin by two beautiful women who make the soap themselves, as well as the chili-cognac chocolate that they'll spoonfeed to you personally.
Gwendolyn, a fairy, spray-painted in green and gold and outfitted with wings peddled absinthe in small glass bottles. (The bar has adopted the green liqueur as its signature ingredient since it was legalized 11 months ago.) Strings of golden lights peppered the eerie darkness like incandescent fish in the deep sea and the whole scene became the precursor to a million future dreams. As the three hour show progressed, performers started blending in with the audience and the line between reality and fantasy blurred into pure interaction. Only Lucent Dossier's acrobats can make a knot in a curtain, the sexiest prop we've ever seen.

past events - 9/19 to 9/21
Hello people of LA. This weekend is gonna be amazing cause 1)there are some really great events happening in our fine city including daily pool parties and 2)cause your boy Jordan is keeping it realz instead of head over healz!
So check it....
Friday night we got a FREE Glitch Mob show (ohhhh shiznit!!!):
Saturday during the day we got 1 of 2 fun pool parties:
Saturday night, a very special music/art event, put on by homegirl Michelle Berc:
AMP (Art.Music.Politics.) A Political Art Show with Intention
AMP is presented as an “artist as activist” event to promote free speech, progressive thought, and peace. On the eve of International Peace Day, Create:Fixate brings together leaders in the political, art and music community, activist groups, and over 40 individual artists, musicians, and DJs. As our country embarks on the upcoming presidential election we are faced with the opportunity to actively utilize the powers to choose, voice, and influence the path we will take. Since the beginning of time, artists have been at the forefront of political consciousness, reflecting and altering societal perceptions and voicing a call to action.
Participating activist groups and partners include:
The Onion, CODEPINK, Young Progressive Majority, Press for Democracy, Giveback, NextAid, and Healthcare for All.
The event will also include a group project entitled “Art Piece for Peace.” The curators have asked all participating visual artists to produce an art piece that demonstrates each artist’s individual expression of peace through their art form. Proceeds from the sales of these art pieces will be donated to VFP - Veterans For Peace. VFP is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational and humanitarian organization dedicated to the abolishment of war and is an official Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) represented at the UN. VFP supports recently returned vets, actively participates in efforts to save VA healthcare, defends veterans’ rights and champions military family rights. www.veteransforpeacela.org
